The team at New River Veterinary Specialists is excited to announce that we will be opening our doors in Hardeeville, SC in May 2022. As a newly built, 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital, New River will fill a void in advanced animal care in Jasper and Beaufort Counties and beyond. Years of planning have gone into the choice of this hospital location to ensure accessibility to Bluffton, Ridgeland, Beaufort, Savannah and the Islands. Gone will be the days of nervously sending your emergent patients nearly 2 hours to seek advanced or emergency care. When we open, our doors will be open to you and your patients 24/7/365.
New River’s leadership team has been carefully chosen to build and grow New River Veterinary Specialists into a premier trusted source of high quality veterinary care – close to home. As a team, we believe that New River will be different. Passionate, empathetic, communicative and supportive are all words that come to mind to describe the team that we are putting together. From hiring the best and brightest doctors in their respective fields to training and supporting a technician staff that believes in a long term career in veterinary medicine, our team will be here to support you, your clients and your beloved patients.
Teaching is a passion of ours. Frequent in-house training and educational seminars are a goal to benefit all of the New River staff; working closely together with specialists and highly trained emergency doctors is a daily benefit for our team members. However, we plan to extend our delivery of educational information to you and your teams. How better to share our love of all things veterinary medicine than to have frequent small group lectures for you – regional veterinarians and technicians. Moreover, we will be hosting veterinary student externs because for us, nothing is more important than helping to mold the next generation of veterinary professionals.
New River Veterinary Specialists has been a long time in the making. The hospital design process was a particularly important one because our collective goal is to ensure that no barriers exist between our emergency doctors and our specialists. Veterinary medicine should always be a team endeavor and all too often the real or imaginary walls that exist between specialist and non-specialist veterinarians prove detrimental to patient care. We will be different. Our central hospital design was worked and reworked to ensure team work on all cases. Our ER and ICU are surrounded by specialty procedure rooms. There are sitelines to all of the ER, ICU, treatment, isolation and many of the specialty areas. Our doctors office is open to the ER and allows all of our doctors to collaborate together on cases, in one central location, every single day. Your cases will benefit from this team approach – putting our heads together on every case leads to better care and better outcomes.
The importance of team communication extends far beyond our four walls. You, as the regional veterinarians, are a part of our team. We care about you, want to be a resource to you and want to support you. We are available for consults on your cases, even if they don’t transfer for ongoing or emergency care. We want to get to know you and how best to support your practice. We are here for your patients and their pets. We are here for you.
