Our Services

Emergency & Critical Care

Critical Care is a diverse specialty requiring round the-clock monitoring, a dedicated nursing staff, and doctors with training and expertise focused on treating the most compromised pets. A Criticalist is dedicated to dealing with life-threatening emergencies as well as diagnosing and managing sick pets.

Specialty Care

At New River Veterinary Specialists, our board-certified surgeons have extensive training and experience beyond that of a general practice veterinarian, with a variety of soft tissue, neurological, and orthopedic surgeries, including: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Dermatology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation

Pet Laboratory

Our facility includes a full-service laboratory, allowing us to perform comprehensive testing on-site instead of sending samples to an outside lab. This saves time, money, and most importantly, pet parents and referring veterinarians don’t have to wait overnight for results. Pets in our care get a diagnosis and needed treatment that much sooner.

Diagnostic Pet Imaging

Skin and ear issues are common reasons for dogs and cats to visit a veterinarian. Allergies are often the underlying root cause of these problems. In addition to allergic diseases, Dr. Smart also treats a variety of other dermatologic conditions, including autoimmune, infectious, congenital/hereditary, hormonal, and some neoplastic causes.
